Job Summary

The Relief Shop Manager will:

Be responsible for the day to day running of the shop including opening & closing and processing sales and donations. Maintain high shop standards and cleanliness. Ensure all Health & Safety checks and requirements are met. Participate in planned promotions. Encourage the promotion of the hospice values through all shop activities. Help manage shops social media accounts. Support regular communication with line manager. Follow standard operating procedures in all aspects of the role. Sort through donations to identify items for sale in shops and online.

Requirements

The Relief Shop Manager will :

Have an interest in Charity retail. Be willing to learn to operate an electronic till. Possess basic I.T skills including, Microsoft word, Excel and sending and receiving emails. Be able to meet the physical demands of a busy retail environment including, standing for long periods of time and lifting and carrying donated stock. Have experience of using Social media. Be able to handle cash accurately and reconcile takings.

The Relief Shop Manager will be able to:

Demonstrate good communication skills. Take a flexible approach to work. Manage issues such as customer complaints or equipment faults with minimal supervision. Work with small team of volunteers Monitor and prevent theft or loss, ensuring all security procedures are followed.

The successful candidate will be subject to a Standard/Enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which is covered by the hospice. Any post holder within the organisation will be expected to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to their role and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures. All staff must work in accordance with their statutory roles and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding in accordance with the Working Together to Safeguarding Children 2023, The Care Act 2014, and Prevent Duty 2015.
