We're looking for a talented Spray Finisher who's ready to mix things up. From large-scale structures to intricate components, you'll work across a diverse range of projects that keep things interesting. You'll also have the opportunity to expand your skillset by learning advanced Polyurethane spraying techniques, adding another level to your finishing game.
Working alongside our spray team, you will deliver flawless, durable, and visually stunning finishes across a variety of surfaces and materials.
The ideal candidate will have creative flexibility, the ability to work fast and clean under pressure and extensive experience spraying large scale objects.
Whether you've been in the game for years, just starting out with a passion to grow your spraying skills, or a seasoned pro looking to stay active in retirement -- we'd love to hear from you.
Enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to get stuck in are just as important to us as experience.
Key Tasks:
Surface prep (sanding, cleaning, priming, masking) and spray finishing of metal, MDF, fibreglass, timber, plastics etc
Apply high-quality polyurethane finishes using HVLP and air-assisted spray systems, including base coats, topcoats, and specialist finishes
Spraying both small-scale, but predominantly large-scale objects
Work from scenic briefs, mood boards, or reference images to achieve unique finishes (e.g matte, gloss, metallics, texture effects)
Mix paints to exact colour specs or visual references, including custom tints and effects to achieve consistent finishes
Maintain clean and safe working environment
Collaborate closely with other creative departments (including metalwork, carpentry, scenic art, mould making etc) and project management team
Skills & Competencies:
Spray finishing experience, ideally in scenic fabrication, prop building, theatre, film sets, or experiential production
Extensive spray finish experience of large-scale objects
Ability to apply both water and solvent based paint finishes to fibreglass, metals, wood, MDF, plastics etc with consistent, high-end result
Able to apply and shape body filler to achieve both flat and curved surfaces
Ability to interpret design intent and contribute to achieving complex or unusual finishes (e.g distressed, aged, hyper-realistic)
Excellent attention to detail and quality of finish. Obsessed with smooth, high-spec finishes and an eagle eye for imperfections
Ability to work in a safe manner following health, safety, environment and quality guidelines/instructions
Tidy and methodical approach to work environment
Certified in the use of Di-isocyanates
Bonus:
Proficient with HVLP / airless spray systems and PU spray coatings
Practical skills which may be utilised in other departments (e.g fabrication, metalwork, carpentry, engineering)
Background in film/theatre set painting, museum fit-outs, or luxury retail displays
Experience with scenic painting or texturing techniques
Contract Details:
Rate - negotiable (based on skills & experience)
Contract type - Freelance or Fixed Term...but if you really impress us, we'd love to offer something long term
