The Epidemiology Group (www.abdn.ac.uk/epidemiology) are looking to recruit a new member of the team to support coordination of our portfolio of studies, including PioKneeR and UKAR.

The PioKneer study - Prioritising early detection of knee osteoarthritis is a 5-year programme aiming to improve the early detection and monitoring of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). We are recruiting people aged 35-70 with probable early KOA from a large population survey and following them over 4 years to understand how the disease develops. Participants will have imaging of their knees, provide blood and urine samples, and complete questionnaires. Some will also have knee biopsies to give us deeper insight into the disease. This work will help identify new ways to diagnose KOA earlier and track its progression more accurately.

Our group also run the UK Antimicrobial Registry (UKAR) in collaboration with the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (UK Antimicrobial Registry Reaches Major Milestone - The British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy), recruiting patients from hospitals across the UK who are prescribed and administered select antimicrobial agents.

We are now seeking to grow our study team to include an Assistant Study Coordinator to work across both the PioKneeR and UKAR studies. The successful candidate will work closely with the Study Investigators, Study Coordinator and other members of the study team.

The post is office-based in Aberdeen, a full-time position (100%fte) and is funded to November 2027, in the first instance.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 5 scale, 32,546 - 34,312 per annum, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

Informal enquiries should be made to Dr Rosemary Hollick or Professor Gary Macfarlane (epidemiology@abdn.ac.uk).

In accordance with the UKVI immigration rules, it is with regret that this role DOES NOT MEET THE SALARY REQUIREMENTS for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. For this role, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment and obtain the right to work in the UK. Information on other visa options is available at https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa.

Applicants may be invited to undertake a short (1hr) task as part of the selection process. Long-list applicants will be asked to complete the task, which will identify a shortlist of candidate who will thereafter be invited to interview. Invitation to complete the task does not guarantee an interview."
