Role Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic

Assistant Surveyor

to join our team in Royston. The successful candidate will assist in all financial and technical aspects of construction contracts, including procurement, invoicing, and payment, with the aim of minimising costs and maximising value. You will support the allocated Project Surveyor, who has full responsibility for the project's financial performance through to cash collection.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation, management, and evaluation of project costs. Support procurement activities and management of subcontractor accounts. Prepare and process invoices, valuations, and payments. Monitor costs and produce monthly financial reports. Liaise with the Project Surveyor and site teams to ensure commercial control. Contribute to tender analysis and contract documentation. Ensure compliance with company financial processes and controls.

Essential Criteria:

Professional qualification (HNC/HND/Degree/Diploma) or equivalent. Previous experience with bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and design & build contracts. Proven experience in commercial management and subcontractor procurement. Strong knowledge of monthly reporting and cost control. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently. Experience managing both direct and subcontract labour. Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines. Full UK Driving Licence. Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.

Desirable Criteria:

Experience in construction, retrofit, or fabric upgrades. Understanding of PAS 2035 and retrofit principles. DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
