Assistant Team Manager - Children's Residential Home
Salary: up to 43,000/year (dependent on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
We are seeking an Assistant Team Manager to support the leadership of a small children's residential home. This role involves working alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the home operates to the highest standards in line with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards. You will play a key part in safeguarding, staff supervision, rota management, and promoting positive outcomes for children and young people.
This position requires flexibility, including participation in the on-call rota and completing shifts as part of the staffing structure.
Key Responsibilities
Support the daily running of the home to ensure compliance with all legislative, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
Promote the safeguarding and well-being of children, ensuring their health, education, and care needs are fully met.
Supervise and develop staff, providing coaching and guidance to maintain high standards of care and professional practice.
Contribute to budget preparation, monitoring, and management.
Liaise with external agencies and professionals to support individual care plans and ensure effective multi-agency working.
Assist in staff resourcing, recruitment, and training to maintain a skilled and resilient team.
Implement changes in practice in line with updated legislation, guidance, or inspection requirements.
Encourage a positive culture of health, safety, equality, and continuous improvement within the home.

Essential Skills and Experience
NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards)
Minimum of 1 year's residential childcare experience
Experience supervising or leading staff in a care setting
Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and regulatory compliance
Ability to work within a rota system, including sleep-ins and on-call duties
Full UK driving licence
Desirable
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards)
Experience working in therapeutic, trauma-informed, or PACE-based care environments
