In order to expand our Technical function we are recruiting an Assistant Technical Manager to join our fast-paced, food manufacturing business, based in Rochdale.

The Assistant Technical Manager will not only be looking to develop their own career within the Technical Function but will also look to play a key role in shaping our Technical function as we continue to expand our product portfolio and manufacturing capability.

When it comes to your experience, you will have worked within Food Manufacturing and have recent experience in a Technical or Quality Assurance focussed role. If you've got a degree level qualification in a Food Science discipline and have experience working to BRC standards that would be fantastic, however it is not essential.

Your role will be a strong focus on compliance, BRC and audits, working within a team on a daily basis whilst working autonomously, liaising with stakeholders in the business and a true advocate of high quality and service levels.

You will have current UK Food manufacturing experience, knowledge of technical systems as well auditing, HACCP and good organisation skills, the ability to adapt quickly to the ever changing environment of the food industry and good communication skills from colleagues to clients.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Assist the Technical Manager to evaluate, implement and maintain the Global Food Safety Standard Management System, with the objective of maintaining the BRC Grade "AA" Certification.

You will liaise with external laboratories (UKAS 17025 Certificated) for Raw Material and Final Product Micro Analysis and Chemical Analysis requirements.

You will support the need to coordinate with suppliers for weekly chemical, culture and laboratory requirements.

You will support the Technical Manager in the review of incoming correspondence from third parties and in the determination and completion of actions required including the completion of any Technical Questionnaires or SAQ requests, technical queries and complaints.

Assist the Technical Manager and Production in New Product Development activity including producing samples, product specifications, recipes/formula, procedures and any HACCP requirements.

Support the Technical Manager in the development, implementation, review and audit of HACCP Plans and identified CCP'S.

Review and maintain current material specifications and records of certificates of analysis for raw materials to ensure materials are validated and suitable for use.

Review and maintain current records of approval for suppliers including all supporting evidence to validate approval and performance of suppliers. Liaise with the Technical Manager and procurement to ensure corrective action is taken if materials are supplied out of specification to prevent incorrect use and prevent future supply of such material.

Support and liaise with the Technical Manager in ensuring the Quality Assurance/Quality Control department is working effectively and evaluate results to ensure product quality and food safety specifications are met.

Assist in the management of internal non-Conformance requirements and trend analysis activity in support of the maintenance and improvement of the Food Safety and Quality Management System.
