About the Role
We are seeking an Assistant Technical Manager to support the effective implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of our Food Safety, Quality and Legality Management Systems within our BRCGS and Red Tractor accredited poultry processing site in Norfolk.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring ongoing compliance with BRCGS Food Safety Standard, Red Tractor Poultry Scheme requirements, FSA / DEFRA legislation, and customer-specificstandards. This is a hands-on role, working closely with production, hygiene and engineering teams to ensure food safety, product quality and animal welfare standards are consistently achieved.
You will support day-to-day technical operations including HACCP, GMP, CCP monitoring, traceability, internal auditing, corrective actions and root cause analysis, while assisting with external audits, customer visits and inspections. You will also contribute to the management of non-conformances, complaints, deviations and continuous improvement actions, ensuring issues are investigated, documented and closed out effectively.
The role requires visibility on the factory floor, the ability to influence operational teams, and a proactive approach to maintaining standards in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deputise for the Technical Manager in their absence.
Be involved in maintaining and improving systems within the Technical Department.
Ensure relevant standards, HACCP based as appropriate, are communicated, understood and applied to meet Food Safety, Quality, Legality & customer specified requirements.
Actively involved in maintaining, meeting and developing technical KPI's
Be involved in specification compliance and have a good understanding of retail customer specification portals.
Be involved in maintaining contracted services (hygiene, pest control)
General administration duties; compiling and tending data reports, responding to customer queries and complaints trending.
Active involvement, assist and lead when deemed appropriate with customer visits and audits in internal, and with appropriate training external auditing,
Safety and legality.
Liaise with FSA on site.
Assist with corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes
What We're Looking For
Previous experience within a similar Technical Management role in a FMCG environment
Working experience of HACCP and BRGCS
Woking experience with retailer's code of practice
Computer literate in all Microsoft packages
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
Qualifications
UK Driving licence, your own transport is essential due to our rural locations.
Food Science degree would be desirable but not essential.

Based in Shropham, Norfolk; your own transport is essential due to rural location
Full-time Monday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00 (42.5 Hours per week)
This role is not offered as remote or hybrid.
Pay
40,000 - 46,500 Per Annum Depending on Experience
