On behalf of our client, Initivo Consultancy, we are looking for a motivated
Assistant Technician
to join our Building Pathology team. This developmental role offers hands-on training and experience in the construction industry, from operating access plant and sampling materials to analysing data and supporting technical reporting.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a technical background who is keen to build their career through training, mentorship, and real project experience.
What you'll do
Manage and maintain technical equipment, tools, and materials
Assist with planning rotas, resources, and survey preparations
Support on-site investigations, including access plant operation, coring, and data gathering
Prepare and organise samples for laboratory testing
Contribute to technical reports and data presentation
Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are followed
Collaborate closely with consultants, senior staff, and project teams
What we're looking for
Level 2-3 qualification (or equivalent experience) in construction, engineering, design & technology, or related discipline
Basic knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and investigative techniques
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Good written and verbal communication skills
Confidence using hand tools and measuring equipment
Team player with a positive, proactive attitude
Flexibility to work on-site, in the office, and occasionally outside regular hours
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
