We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and reliable Assistant to the Practice Manager to support the smooth day-to-day running of the firm. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, excellent communication ability, and the capacity to multitask effectively in a busy legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide daily administrative support to the Practice Manager across all operational areas.
Assist with HR tasks, including onboarding, maintaining staff records, tracking attendance, and coordinating training.
Support compliance processes, including updating policies, monitoring deadlines, and ensuring adherence to SRA, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements.
Handle general office administration, such as scheduling meetings, organising staff rotas, monitoring supplies, and maintaining office equipment.
Assist with managing staff queries and acting as a point of contact for internal communication.
Support financial administration, including timesheet monitoring, invoicing assistance, and liaising with accounts where required.
Help coordinate internal audits, risk assessments, and file reviews.
Maintain accurate and confidential records and logs for the Practice Manager.
Assist with recruitment-posting job adverts, scheduling interviews, and preparing documentation.
Support the Practice Manager with projects, reporting, and workflow improvements.
Ensure the office environment remains organised, professional, and compliant at all times.
Requirements
Strong administrative or office management experience (legal sector preferred but not essential).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
Good IT skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Desirable Skills
Experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
Understanding of SRA or regulatory compliance.
HR or administrative qualifications (advantageous but not essential).
