Assistant Transport Manager



Location:

Hannah Food Service, Skelmersdale

Hours:

Tuesday to Saturday / Flexible hours between 09:30 am to 18:30 pm Tuesday to Friday to meet the requirements of the business and 08:00 am to 14:00 pm on Saturday. (42.5 hours per week, 40.0 hours per week paid)

Salary:

35,000 to 37,000 per annum

Contract:

Permanent, Full-time

Assistant Transport Manager

to join our logistics team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the day-to-day management of our busy transport operations, supporting the Transport Manager to ensure our deliveries run smoothly, efficiently, and safely.

Key Responsibilities



As Assistant Transport Manager, your role will include:

Assisting with the planning and coordination of delivery routes and schedules Overseeing daily performance of drivers and transport support staff Ensuring full compliance with transport legislation and health & safety standards Managing vehicle maintenance schedules to ensure roadworthiness Resolving transport-related customer queries and issues efficiently Keeping accurate transport records - mileage, fuel usage, delivery logs, etc. Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and training of transport staff Overseeing efficient loading/unloading practices to reduce delays Analysing data to identify improvements and cost-saving opportunities Assisting with budget management and cost control Supervising the Transport Administration Team, including the Transport Planner

What We're Looking For



Previous experience in a transport/logistics role, ideally in a supervisory position

Strong working knowledge of transport regulations and compliance

Excellent organisational and leadership skills

Effective communicator with good people management abilities

Comfortable using transport systems and Microsoft Office (SAP experience a bonus)

Calm under pressure and able to manage multiple priorities

Full UK driving licence (clean record)

HGV Licence and/or HGV experience - essential



CPC Qualification - desirable but not essential
