Assistant Uk Chemicals Campaigner

Euston, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Who we are

CHEM Trust is a highly respected environmental and health NGO dedicated to preventing synthetic chemicals from causing long-term harm to wildlife and human health. Every day, people and nature are exposed to harmful chemicals that can disrupt hormones, contribute to disease, and threaten biodiversity. We work tirelessly to ensure these substances are properly regulated and replaced with safer alternatives. Our work focuses on and influences chemical policy at the highest levels in the UK, EU, and Germany, ensuring that health and environmental concerns remain a priority for governments, regulators, and businesses.

Benefits of working at CHEM Trust

31 days annual leave (plus public holidays)

Birthday leave - an additional day to celebrate your birthday

Generous pension package:

8% employer contribution, 4% employee

Flexible, hybrid working arrangements with a London office base

Supportive policies for staff with caring responsibilities

A family-friendly and inclusive organisational culture

Summary of this role:

Since leaving the EU, the UK has been focusing on a fraction of controls on harmful chemicals at a much slower pace, meaning people and the environment in the UK are more exposed to harm than our EU neighbours. You would be joining our dynamic UK policy team, whose aim is to ensure levels of protection from harmful chemicals match the EU's global gold standard.

This role is central to delivering CHEM Trust's campaign and advocacy work in the UK and encompasses a broad range of tasks aimed at influencing policy. You will contribute to strategic campaigns and communications interventions to improve the regulation of harmful chemicals and better protect people and the environment in the UK.

The role will encompass tasks such as:

Carrying out research on the policy issues CHEM Trust works on;

Leading or contributing to the delivery of events such as:

round tables, webinars, parliamentary events and events at political party conferences;

Drafting responses to relevant policy consultations;

Writing and producing communications for a range of audiences, including writing blogs, social media posts, web-page copy and other materials.
