We have a new role available to join our Manchester office as an Assistant Underwriter
This is a key role within our commercial insurance team where you will contribute to the achievement of business and corporate goals relating to renewal retention, rate, exposure, service, and producer/client relations. As Assistant Underwriter, you will support the underwriters with day-to-day administrative and technical responsibilities, develop your own underwriting abilities, and take ownership of key operational functions.
Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for a group of accounts and the issuance of renewal terms as per established guidelines for that book of business.
• Ensure renewal terms are delivered promptly within agreed guidelines.
• Handle any renewal updates from brokers and re-issue the renewal quote as necessary.
• Upon receiving bind instructions, ensure timely action to allow the premium to be booked and policy documentation to be issued.
• Manage mid-term actions for allocated accounts, liaising with Operations and Offshore teams to ensure administrative matters are handled efficiently.
• Prepare risk referrals and seek approval from the appropriate authority holder as necessary if outside your underwriting authority or where assistance is required.
• Maintain knowledge of all relevant product lines, appetite, and policy wordings.
• Follow and align with underwriting processes and protocols as mandated by the Product Line for your portfolio of accounts.

Qualifications:

• Experience within Commercial Insurance - from either an Underwriting or Broker background.
• Ability to demonstrate application of technical underwriting knowledge.
• Experience working independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of policy forms.
• Ability to use initiative and prioritise work effectively.
• Strong relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated desire to continue professional development.
