The Role:

We're looking for an

Assistant Underwriter

to support our new business team. This is a hands-on underwriting role, ideal for someone with at least

12 months' experience in insurance

-- preferably with some motor trade knowledge -- who's ready to take on more responsibility and develop within a niche and growing business. You'll be involved in assessing risk, negotiating with brokers, and helping to win and convert new business.

Key Responsibilities:

Underwrite new business motor trade risks (road risks and package), working within a defined underwriting guide. Review risk presentations, identify key information, and decide what further details are needed. Liaise with brokers by phone and email to quote, negotiate, and convert new business opportunities. Input data accurately into underwriting systems and maintain clear audit trails. Work closely with senior underwriters to learn and apply underwriting best practices. Stay aware of market appetite, trading conditions, and broker feedback.

What We're Looking For:

At least 1 year's experience

in an insurance role (underwriting or broking) - motor trade exposure preferred. Strong communication skills. A logical thinker with good attention to detail and a commercial mindset. Keen to learn and develop as part of a small, supportive underwriting team. Progress towards CII qualifications welcomed but not essential.

Pay: 25,000.00-30,000.00 per year
