We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President, HSBC UK Operational Management.

Principal Responsibilities:

Impact on the Business/Function

  • Establish and maintain regular engagement with onshore teams to ensure deliverables are met
  • Help deliver on the highest priority topics and diligence by providing adequate time and focus during governance meetings by closely working with onshore teams
  • Ensure all deliverables are timely and of adequate quality
  • Proactively identify process improvements and automation opportunities and ongoing improvements on end-to-end process
  • Be a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for the market and region on governance and oversight matters

Feedback on Governance meetings
  • Maturity of Governance and oversight
  • Positive feedback from stakeholders of continuous and engagement and value addition
  • Evidence of being the partner of choice for key stakeholders
  • Demonstrable examples of owned and worked through and resolved such issues
  • Evidence of staff development/career progression.
  • Delivery of MI in a timely manner
  • Adequate governance withstands auditing and regulatory scrutiny
Customers / Stakeholders
  • Closely work with all market and regional governance managers as an SME, advising best practices across the region
  • Maintain strong and effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Follow-up with onshore stakeholders\xe2\x80\x99 / department heads as required
Leadership & Teamwork
  • Be a key influential member of the governance team.
  • Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand
  • Share best practices and bring multiple teams together
Operational Effectiveness & Control:
  • Ensure appropriate governance is implemented along with robust documentation and supporting management controls
  • Adhere to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points
  • Support the leadership team over all governance matters
Requirements

Requirements:
  • Supporting the management of budget and meeting cost targets for governed spend (direct and indirect)
  • Supporting country input into the selection and adoption of tools to support delivery and definition of methods framework
  • Contributing to country requirements for control standards
  • The quality, consistency, and timeliness of all status reporting for the Program.
  • CAMs review\xe2\x80\x93 Contribute to the review of Cost Allocation charges from GB/GF to the entity
  • Ensure adequate processes are in place to support the governance framework,
  • Business planning activities which include financial, technological and resource planning.
  • Provide support to senior management decision making by creation of management information, performance information, analytics, forums, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Support in forums and committees to represent entity view
  • Support the development and monitoring of internal governance activities.
  • Investigating and seeking remedies for discrete issues
  • Supporting Asset Impairment reviews to accurately report the assets held on the balance sheet across HBUK in line with Finance timescales
  • Supporting Customer Allocation Method reviews with customers to review all charges to UK RFB and ensure evidence is provided to support charges
Management of Risk
  • The management of risk will be consistent and in-line with applicable regulations, the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Policies, Standards and Guidelines including all relevant process and procedures and will focus on adhering to the highest global standards.
  • This will include continual reassessment of operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of new technology in conjunction with the donor Group companies. Risks should also be administered effectively in line with the Group\xe2\x80\x99s Operational Management Risk Frameworks.
Observation of Internal Controls
  • The role holder must adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.

  • Coordinate with the onshore and offshore teams to support deliverables across the region
Experience and expertise
  • Expert in written communication, report, and minutes writing
  • Project, operational and people management experience
  • Continuous improvement and change management experience
  • Experience in risk or control management is desirable
Skills
  • Highly analytical skills, including ability to navigate through advanced functions of Excel
  • Ability to take instructions in the first go and deliver as per expectation where timelines and trust are crucial
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize including when under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to set priorities and manage timelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Ability to balance multiple competing demands to find the best solutions
  • Collaborative skill is required to follow up actions from formal governance meetings
  • Attention to detail, with proven problem-solving ability in a deadline-driven environment
  • Able to map processes, and draft and implement procedures
  • Innovative and critical thinking
  • Fluency in English a pre-requisite
Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
