6 Alpha Associates are seeking a dedicated, dynamic, proactive deputy to support our Operations Manager in our land team, operating predominately in the UK but also and occasionally, in overseas markets, supporting the construction and civil engineering industry in general and enabling groundwork in particular. Candidates are required to have had some experience in this sector.
The appointee will not only support the Land Operations Manager but also the Director of Land Operations in the day-to-day running of a specialist risk management contracting business. Excellent communication and organisational skills are necessary whether by email, telephone or face-to-face.
The Deputy Operations Manager will work as a part of a small team but must also have the ability to work independently at times, managing their own workload and ensuring that deadlines are met.
The role is demanding, dynamic and fast moving so the ideal candidate will have the ability to work to strict deadlines while learning and assimilating amongst other things, company specific, technical survey information.
The role is primarily office based with hybrid working, but there may also be a requirement for travel and on-site work from time-to-time. There will also be opportunities for professional development and promotion.
Outline Responsibilities
To assist with the preparation, delivery and execution of on-site survey and investigation operations including:
Responding to and acting upon short-notice Client enquiries, typically received via telephone or email;
Assist to draft, record, file, review and disseminate technical and commercial proposals;
Help to prepare, coordinate, organise, monitor and/or manage and implement the delivery of all elements of on-site risk management survey services including:
Pre Mobilisation
; the proactive identification, timely preparation, production and delivery of templated pre-mobilisation/pre-delivery documentation e.g. Toolbox Briefs (TBB), Emergency Response Plans (ERP), Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS);
Resourcing
; the Identification and allocation of necessary internal and external resources (people, equipment, vehicles, logistics), identifying and reporting shortfalls or new/additional requirements to get our teams' on site, on time with the right equipment;
Demobilisation
; the timely preparation, production and delivery of post-mobilisation/post-delivery documentation e.g. reports and records including basic financial analysis.
Preferred Experience
In the construction/civil engineering industry in general;
The ability to work within a dynamic, fast paced commercial environment as part of a small team;
Demonstrate confidence and clarity in dealing with employees and Clients;
Excellent organisational abilities;
Possess excellent communication skills, with high levels of self-motivation.
