Role Purpose

The Associate Director, Chief of Staff Office will support the smooth running of the Office of the CEO, leading the governance agenda and supporting on special projects alongside the Director, Chief of Staff. This person will collaborate with key stakeholders globally across Global Private Banking & Wealth (GPB&W), to support the delivery of our strategic agenda across GPB&W for the CEO and Head of Strategy.

This includes support for Wealth & Personal Banking (WPB) and GPB&W governance cycle, support of daily priorities for the CEO, liaising with GPB OpCo / ExCo members and their teams to collect input on urgent topics and deliverables. Supporting the CEO interactions with WPB CEO and the broader HSBC leadership community, as well as any external engagements with clients / vendors / analysts (working with Comms / Marketing, as needed) etc. This role will act as a delegate for GPB&W Chief of Staff (CoS) on specific projects / analysis in support of executive decision making and in interacting with WPB CoS team, among others.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the preparation and management of the annual governance runway, timely build of agendas and own the preparation of governance packs and MI for relevant senior management meetings
  • Ensure GPB&W CEO and senior leadership agenda is aligned to key strategic priorities, and manage key inputs and outputs to closure
  • Lead collaboration with the WPB CoS team managing paper preparation and escalation for key WPB Forums
  • Prepare briefing notes for the GPB&W CEO ahead of WPB senior governance and client meetings, and other important internal and external engagements
  • Support the management of GPB&W senior leadership performance framework (i.e., CEO and OpCo scorecards)
  • Act as a point of contact for the broader organisation across various critical requests and escalations to the Office of the CEO
  • Support the Director, Chief of Staff with any leadership events and offsites, including logistics and presentations
  • Work closely with the Director, Chief of Staff and Communications team to manage various GPB&W CEO written and verbal comms (internally and externally)
  • Contribute to change execution agenda for the business encompassing monitoring of progress across key strategic and transformation initiatives
  • Proactively drive and support key initiatives driven by WPB CEO office as applicable to GPB&W including organisational design, specific strategic deep dives, etc.
  • Analyse financials and KPI data, understanding business performance identifying areas for optimisation / attention
Requirements

Experience Required:
  • History of performance excellence in demanding roles incl. senior stakeholder management
  • Extensive experience working in a Governance, Secretariat, Chief of Staff or Chief Administration function for a senior leader
  • Demonstrated experience of leading planning and end-to-end delivery of global projects
  • Excellent working knowledge of Private Banking
  • Consulting experience will be advantageous
Skills Required:
  • Strong project management and planning skills with the ability to multi-task driving projects to completion with limited oversight and appropriate upward management
  • Outstanding analytical skills and ability to both do detailed analysis and synthesize key issues from complex content in simple language into executive-level reports and presentations
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and experience in creating executive-ready written content (papers, prep notes, speaking points, etc.)
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to stay informed on key topics within the organization and in the external environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal, relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills
  • Proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with senior executives
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Outstanding work ethic, high level of personal drive and motivation to ensure delivery of a broad range of outputs simultaneously
