Associate Director - Civils - Glasgow



Tony Gee and Partners is currently recruiting an Associate Director specialising in civils design for its Glasgow office.


The individual will provide technical leadership to projects, supporting project delivery teams in the role of Technical Director and/ or Project Director. They will also act as civils discipline lead, working to enhance civil engineering design skills and capability within our Glasgow office.


The individual will work closely with other Directors and technical specialists in Glasgow, as well as other UK offices to support delivery of a range of projects across our four core sectors - Power & Energy, Highways, Rail and Marine, with particular focus on Power & Energy sector.


The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer with a relevant engineering institution and possess extensive experience in civil infrastructure design delivery.

Job Responsibilities



Undertake the role of Technical Director and/ or Project Director and carry out sufficient reviews, audits and site visits to ensure that project requirements, legislation and standards are being met Engage in day-to-day management, direction and training of staff in parallel with project delivery Ensure that technical standards, requirements and targets are met Identify and manage risks for the work under your control to minimise overall risk to the business Maintain health, safety, quality and environmental assurance systems, procedures and documentation appropriate to portfolio of project work Provide feedback to the Glasgow Office Lead, Head of Skills and Heads of Sector to generate a programme of continuous technical improvement within the business Participate in the business development process, i.e. identifying/ sourcing opportunities and support production of bids/ tender responses Represent the business at industry conferences/ events; undertaking and encouraging appropriate networking Promoting a health, safety and welfare culture Acting as a role model within the business

Essential Experience



Civil engineering technical background with experience interfacing with geotechnical and structural design disciplines Ability to lead delivery of a portfolio of projects as Project Director across multiple markets/ clients Experience in one or more of the following sectors - Power & Energy, Highways, Rail and Marine Experience working in Design & Build environment, delivering projects for contractor clients In depth knowledge of civils design standards - DMRB, MCHW, local authority design standards Knowledge of the BIM protocols in BS1192 Experience supporting projects at pre-planning, design and build stages Multidisciplinary design, project and commercial management of projects Strong communication and influencing skills Client focus and key account management Able to travel to Tony Gee offices and sites/ client offices as required

Desired Experience



Has previously held, or is able to obtain Security Clearance (SC)

Qualifications



Civil engineering degree Chartered Engineer with ICE or CIHT
