Are you looking for a leadership role that will both further your accounting technical knowledge and give you exposure to strategic decision making?


We are excited to promote an opportunity to join RSM as an Associate Director in our Accounting and Financial Reporting (AFR) team. Working as part of a larger national service line, your responsibilities will have a focus across our Midlands offices in Birmingham, Leicester, and Nottingham. As an Associate Director you will have a varied role that will range from delivery of complex client work and strategic planning to people management and professional development.


About the department





AFR is part of RSM's Accounting Insights Advisory (AIA) service line. The AFR team can be involved with a variety of work, such as: financial reporting advisory and consultancy projects; preparation of year-end statutory accounts; provision of pre-audit support.

About the job





Working in the AFR team will see you establishing and maintaining valuable relationships across a varied client base. With a portfolio of clients that range from large corporates and international groups to owner managed businesses, you will have responsibility for leading on engagements and providing the highest standard of client service and quality of work.


You will also be expected to contribute AFR's and RSM's growth through demonstrating effective business development skills. You will have the opportunity to work with other service lines as part of multi-service line pitches, as well as identifying opportunities and introducing new clients from other networks.


As an Associate Director, your role will also include important people responsibilities such as line management and the professional development of others. Developing our people, across all levels, is a highly important element to RSM's culture that you will be involved in. Taking an active role in the coaching, mentoring, growth and development of others and more junior team members is central to the role.

Responsibilities



Leading the delivery of accounting and financial reporting services on a portfolio of clients Managing the working capital of projects including budgeting, cost management, billing and debt recoverability Effectively plan resources and ensure that team members are briefed appropriately to deliver projects to clients in line with RSM's quality guidelines and procedures Actively take part in the coaching and development of the AFR team Growing the department through business development activities such as lead generation, supporting proposals to new clients and agreeing projects with the firm's existing clients Working alongside other service lines to provide expert advice where consulted Maintaining your own development and technical knowledge whilst fulfilling the Institute's CPD requirements

About the ideal candidate




This fantastic role is a would be well suited to a candidate who is looking to move into a leadership role with an appetite to grow and develop others as well as AFR's client offering. Candidates should have experience working with mid-to-large size clients within a financial accounting and reporting, or Audit, environment.

Requirements



Essential



ACA or ACCA qualified or equivalent Experience of managing a portfolio of client work within a professional practice A strong accounting and financial reporting skillset is essential Excellent communication skills with proven experience of building lasting client relationships An adaptable and collaborative team player able to work at all levels from trainee to Partner. Advanced coaching and development skills Experience as a line manager The ability and talent to make a positive contribution through business development. Candidates presenting themselves for interview are expected to discuss their initial thoughts about how they might approach this area in their role at RSM. Ability to deliver results autonomously - a "self-starter"

Desirable




A specialism in one or more of the following areas are highly desirable:

IFRS or US GAAP; Complex UK GAAP reporting including group reorganisations and consolidations; Non-for-profit including Charity SORP;- Sector specialism, for example Legal, Technology, Manufacturing, Property etc
