Job Description

:
The Role...
As Associate Editor, you'll be at the centre of Hearst's Entertainment Portfolio, working across Digital Spy, Best and Inside Soap to help shape standout print issues from plan to press. Partnering closely with editors, you'll manage flatplans, adapt fast to change, and keep production running smoothly - while mastering brand house styles and ensuring every cover is accurate, compliant, and print-perfect.
Main Duties...
Assisting brand editors/leads in creating and updating flat plans for print products
Liaising with brand editors, the portfolio Managing Editor, plus art and pictures team colleagues at regular production meetings.
Working closely with brand teams to ensure copy moves through production systems as efficiently as possible to meet print deadlines.
Liaising with Erand editors and maintaining each brand's style guide, plus supporting documentation such as brand bibles and how-to guides.
Work closely with the Managing Editor and senior editorial leadership across the Entertainment Portfolio, building strong relationships with brand editors and leads on Best, Digital Spy and Inside Soap to ensure brand house style, editorial standards and best practice are consistently applied across all print products.
What We Are Looking For...

  • Experience in a similar role on a consumer title
You've already worked in a fast-paced consumer publishing environment and understand the realities of deadlines, workflows and print production. * A strong interest in general entertainment, including soaps
You actively follow what's happening across TV, celebrity and soaps, and understand what engages mass-market audiences. * Experience using InDesign and print content management systems
You're confident working in InDesign and comfortable navigating print CMS tools as part of a live production workflow. * Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
You have a proven track record of spotting errors before they reach print, with a strong grasp of house style, legal sensitivity and quality control. * Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle priorities
You can manage multiple tasks at once, stay on top of changing priorities, and keep things moving without dropping the ball. * Calm under pressure
You stay focused when deadlines are tight, plans change, and the pace ramps up - and you're trusted to get it done. * Digital subbing experience (desirable)
Experience working on digital content is a plus, particularly if you're used to editing for speed, accuracy and tone across online platforms.
