About the team



You will be part of the HR People Partnering team providing trusted advice, guidance and coaching to our leaders and people managers, helping them deliver and achieve their strategies through their people whilst managing people matters effectively.



You will be working alongside a HR People Partners and a Senior HR People Partner, gaining exposure to a broad range of people matters while being part of a supportive team that values learning, collaboration, and professional growth.



About the role



We are looking for a

motivated and proactive Associate HR People Partner (AHRPP)

to join our HR People Partnering team.



This is a

hands-on, operational role

where you will act as the

first point of contact for managers and staff

across a diverse and high-profile portfolio, including:

Finance, Office of General Counsel, Commercial & Procurement, President & Provost's Office, Vice-President (Advancement), Vice-President (External Engagement), and Vice-President (Strategy).





It's a fantastic

entry into HR People Partnering at UCL

, offering wide exposure and the opportunity to build valuable experience in:



Managing a caseload of employee relations matters (disciplinary, grievance, capability, sickness absence, probation). Delivering policy-focused learning sessions to managers. Providing HR data and analytics to support decision-making. Offering day-to-day advice and guidance to managers and employees. Supporting wider projects and people initiatives led by the HR People Partnering team.

You will report to the HR People Partner and work closely with the Senior HR People Partner, gaining support and coaching as you develop. This role provides a strong foundation for building a career in HR People Partnering.



Please note this is a fixed term contract (or internal secondment) role starting on 2nd January 2026 through to 31st July 2026 and is available on a hybrid basis at our London Kings Cross/ St Pancras Bidborough House office 2-days per week (Monday and one other).

About you


-------------


As an HR professional, you have generalist HR experience in a large, complex organisation and are looking to build on your experience into people partnering. You're confident managing employee relations casework and have developed sound judgement in this HR area. You're resilient, curious and are able to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders as well as having an interest in developing your skills and knowledge with the support of experienced colleagues. Additionally, you're ready to roll up your sleeves and learn on the job.



You will also be able to demonstrate the following:


Experience advising on a range of complex HR issues (e.g. disciplinaries, grievances, change management, TUPE) Experience providing advice to managers on a range of HR policies, procedures and HR best practice Experience in HR administration.

Although not essential, holding a qualification in CIPD or similar will be beneficial.
