Associate: International Arbitration - EMEA



Are you ready to make your mark as part of our International Arbitration practice in our London office?

We are currently seeking one individual to join our team. As an associate in our team, you will handle a range of complex, international arbitration matters in a dynamic environment. You will work closely with partners and collaborate with colleagues across various practice areas and global offices.


Our International Arbitration practice is recognized as the foremost in the field. We manage leading arbitrations for global corporations, financial institutions, and sovereign states. We have expertise in numerous industries and specialized sectors, including financial services, energy, power, mining & metals, technology, telecommunications, transportation, construction and infrastructure, and manufacturing. We conduct cases under all the major institutional arbitration rules.



As an associate in our team, you will handle arbitration tasks such as mastering case facts, leading evidence-gathering exercises, drafting submissions, working with experts, and managing more junior team members. We emphasise professional development, providing significant responsibility early in your career and an opportunity to contribute to business development. We are looking for mid-level associates with excellent academic credentials, commercial acumen, and enthusiasm for international arbitration. You should be a confident team player with strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex facts and legal concepts clearly and persuasively. Highly organised and deadline-driven, you should thrive in delivering outstanding work within client timeframes.


Key Responsibilities






Conduct and manage a range of International Arbitration matters and workstreams. Drafting and negotiating settlement agreements to resolve disputes efficiently. Drafting submissions, witness statements and procedural correspondence. Attend client meetings, prepare legal memoranda, and provide written advice to clients. Conduct and oversee legal research. Develop and share legal and sector knowledge both internally and externally. Managing technical, legal and quantum experts. Supporting at hearings, including preparing opening / closing arguments and cross examinations. Liaising with client teams on risk management and case strategies. Conducting legal research and analysis to support case strategies. Coordinating multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional teams Support BD initiatives




Qualifications and Skills




2-4 years' experience within international arbitration, gained wholly or in part at a large commercial law firm. Proficient and qualified in English law (qualification in any additional jurisdictions is beneficial but not required). Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity. Commercially aware with ability to see the big picture. Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Able to prioritise and multi-task particularly when working under pressure and to tight deadlines. Able to interact positively at all levels and be a good team player. Driven by professional growth with strong professional presence.

Location and Reporting





This role is based in our London office. This role reports to the London International Arbitration Partners. Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a current requirement for 3 days in the office per week.
