The role



We are seeking to appoint several enthusiastic and knowledgeable Associate Lecturers to join our academic team in the field of Food and Nutrition. These roles offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, applied teaching, learning, and assessment across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Successful candidates will have expertise in

two

or more

of the following subject areas:
Nutrition, physiology and biochemistry Nutrition through the life-course Nutritional science Food science, quality and sustainability Food labelling and packaging
As an Associate Lecturer, you will be expected to deliver engaging, evidence-based teaching that supports student learning and development, contributing to both face-to-face and online delivery where required. You will participate in module delivery and assessment, ensuring content remains current, research-informed, and aligned with public health priorities and industry expectations.

Our department offers a highly regarded portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including the Food Technical Professional Higher Degree Apprenticeship. We work closely with leading food retailers and manufacturers, providing students with real-world insights, industry-relevant experiences, and excellent employability outcomes.

Our strong professional relationships with the Association for Nutrition and the Institute of Food Science and Technology, who accredit our courses, ensure the highest academic and professional standards.

Sheffield Business School has approximately 6,000 students and 220 academic staff. It has a long history dating back to the 1950's, before it was formally branded as the Sheffield Business School in 1986, which has since had significant success. You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS) - one of the largest and most generous defined-benefit pension schemes in the country.

Each year you will earn a secure pension benefit of 1/57th of your salary and the University will pay pension contributions towards the cost of this pension (currently worth about 29% of your salary). For a starting salary of 40,000, for example, the
University would pay just over 11,400 in the first year of your employment and you would earn a pension of 702 p.a. for that year (payable from your State Pension Age).
