Birkbeck, University of London, is looking to recruit a part-time, fixed-term Associate Lecturer to teach this Summer term 2026.
Joining the School of Psychological Sciences, you would teach on the following module:
SCPS189H4 Understanding Individual Differences, Level 4
22 hours of teaching
Thursday afternoons 2-5pm and/or evenings 6-9pm, Term 3.
Your role will be to deliver teaching to Birkbeck students, in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully, and to undertake all related course administrative duties as required.
The module explores three significant areas of individual differences: personality, psychological disorder, and intelligence. The module will examine some of the main theories and models offered by various perspectives in psychology that claim to explain personality and psychological disorders before briefly examining the history of intelligence and IQ.
The module is delivered on Thursday, 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Summer term (April to July). As an Associate Lecturer, you will be working closely with the programme director to organise, deliver and assess the module.
We are looking for a committed professional with:
A degree in Psychology.
Relevant teaching experience, working with adult students within the HE sector.
A good understanding of the needs of adult learners and be able to relate well to their individual needs and engage their interest and enthusiasm.
Experience of (or willingness to develop) a wide range of teaching and assessment methods.
Demonstrably effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills across a range of relevant contexts.
