The Team

Our Marine Assets and Projects team is focussed on transactional, non-contentious marine and projects work. We act primarily for owners, operators and stakeholders such as major energy companies. We are proud of our reputation for delivering first class, commercially efficient advice for our clients across a broad range of commercial shipping and marine projects. We can advise on the entire lifecycle of a ship, from shipbuilding contracts, to financing, ship recycling and everything in between.

Our team acts for some of the world\'s largest companies and are involved in transactions relating to all types of vessels including bulk carriers, container ships, tankers, reefers, cruise ships, yachts, offshore rigs, FSRUs, FPSOs and other floating energy projects as well as supply and support vessels.

We advise on all related contracts, including industry standard forms and drafting bespoke contracts. We are also familiar with and negotiate various forms of vessel financing, including traditional loans, sale and leaseback and JOLCO structures.

The Role

The candidate will be a core member of our London Marine Assets and Projects Team. The candidate will work closely with various other practice areas, including our corporate teams, marine litigation and our international offices. The ideal candidate will have experience in most of these areas:

  • Shipbuilding contracts
  • Ship sale and purchase (ideally being able to manage the transaction with some supervision)
  • Ship financing
  • Bareboat charters
  • Long term time charter parties
Essential Skills & Experience
  • The successful candidate will hold 3-4 years PQE in marine transactional work, with comfortable working knowledge of BIMCO. The ideal candidate will also display excellent legal ability and initiative, strong technical skills as well as confidence in managing and prioritising a full and varied caseload. They will be a strong communicator with good attention to detail.
  • The Solicitors Act 1974 requires practising solicitors to have a practising certificate.
  • All solicitors and registered European lawyers in legal practice or employment in England & Wales must comply with the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority\'s continuing professional development scheme (CPD Scheme).
