The Role
The Insurance Team in Edinburgh is expanding, and is seeking an experienced Associate (4+ PQE) to join a busy, market-leading practice. The role will involve:
Defending professional indemnity disputes - especially claims against financial professionals, solicitors, and insurance brokers
Advising on financial lines (e.g. W&I), cyber risks, and complex policy coverage issues
Working on construction all risks disputes (both domestic and international), along with broader insurance coverage and advisory work
Engaging with both contentious and advisory matters in a way that combines technical depth with commercial insight
What You'll Be Doing
Advising major insurers and brokers, taking on substantial responsibility early in your role
Providing client-facing, pragmatic, and technically sound advice in high-stakes disputes
Drafting pleadings, coverage opinions, policy wordings, and other critical documentation
Taking a proactive role in business development and nurturing your professional network
Being supported through structured training, development, and mentorship from senior lawyers
About You
You hold 4 to 7 PQE, ideally with prior experience in a commercial or insurance litigation team
Qualified under Scots law, or dual-qualified.
Demonstrable experience in professional indemnity claims; coverage experience in other classes also welcomed
Excellent drafting, project management, and interpersonal skills
Sound commercial judgement and the ability to manage a diverse and challenging caseload
