AKT II

is seeking a highly motivated

Chartered Structural Engineer

to join our team at

Associate Director

level. In this senior role, you will support the management of large-scale projects and multidisciplinary teams within our Structural Engineering group, reporting directly to a Managing Director.


We're looking for someone with a proven track record in structural design and project management on major developments. You'll bring a strong understanding of the construction industry, along with experience managing the design phase of complex projects -- including financial oversight and design coordination. Prior experience leading design teams is highly desirable, as is the commercial awareness to contribute to strategic project decisions.

The role and responsibilities.




As a Associate Director your responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Lead and deliver structural engineering projects from concept through to construction, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance Manage project teams and resources, including programme planning, budgeting, and performance reviews Act as the primary technical contact for clients, attending design meetings and presenting design ideas clearly Oversee financial control of projects, including fee proposals, invoicing support, and identifying additional opportunities Coordinate with internal teams and external collaborators to ensure integrated, value-driven design solution Support innovation, promote cross-disciplinary working, and contribute to continuous improvement across the practice Ensure health, safety, quality, and environmental standards are met throughout project delivery

Required skills.



Excellent technical background in the design of building structures in all traditional materials. Good communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrate experience in managing and leading teams and projects across a range of industry sectors. Enthusiastic, pro-active and able to work on their own initiative. Proven design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget Previous exposure with developers, major contractors, clients of both national and local authorities as well as leading Architects is highly desirable

Qualifications and experience.



Good degree in Engineering Fellow or Chartered Member of an industry related Professional Body i.e. CEng MIStructE / MICE Must have relevant experience of the management and delivery of design for major building projects Experienced in the delivery of complete lifecycle projects through to completion Strong general design knowledge with the ability to work closely with architects and other professionals to develop coordinated designs from concept to construction. A familiarity with relevant design codes in concrete, steel and timber design is essential. (A solid understanding of Eurocodes will be advantageous) Experience working with clients, designers, and contractors, with a proven ability to build strong relationships and deliver high-quality design solutions.
