The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced teacher of Art & Design to tutor and supervise PGDE (Secondary) students when on placement in secondary schools. The post-holder will be appointed on a guaranteed hours\' basis and specific duties will be allocated in discussion with the Programme Director and Art & Design tutor depending on qualifications and relevant experience. There are three placement blocks in October - December, January - March and April - May. Each of these are approximately 6 weeks long.

This is an exciting opportunity where the postholder will be responsible for and support an allocated number of students during each of the three secondary school placements periods engaging with both students, school and University colleagues.

Your skills and attributes for success:

• GTCS registered teacher of Art & Design with a proven record of Learning, Teaching and Assessment from S1-6. You will have a thorough knowledge of the curriculum and a range of courses in the Senior Phase.
• Excellent communication skills. You will be working with students and staff in the placement schools to ensure that good mentoring relationships are set up and students are given the opportunities necessary to meet the GTCS Standards for Provisional Registration.
• Excellent IT skills. The main method of communication with students whilst on placement is via Microsoft OneNote.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel. Visits are arranged over two weeks in November, March and May. Our students are placed in schools all over Scotland and so a clean driving licence is essential and ability to stay overnight away from home when necessary (travel expenses are covered).
• Ability to work independently, contact students and schools, organise a visit schedule and meet Board of Examiner\'s deadlines for all documentation
