We are seeking a Immigration and Asylum Caseworkers to join our team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will support the Immigration/Asylum team in handling Immigration and asylum work and providing administrative assistance.
Duties
The purpose of the role is to deal with all casework related to asylum, appeal, JR and immigration.
Key responsibilities:
- Reporting to the supervisor and Head of the Immigration/asylum team
- Meeting with clients and take instructions
- Provide Immigration and asylum advice to clients
- Obtaining proper documents and helping a client understand them.
- Researching Immigration rules and procedures
- Maintaining client files online and offline
- Updating clients on progress and explaining next steps
- Preparing and filing paperwork
- Corresponding with clients, Home Office, Courts, Barristers and any other relevant third party
- Preparing witness statements and appeal statements
- Billing clients and chasing up clients to clear the balance of fees
- Drafting representations to UKVI, Courts, Barrister, and other agencies
- Dealing with entry clearance and applications for leave to remain, indefinite leave to remain, British citizenship, travel document, asylum, and applications for EU nationals.
- Dealing with Tribunal proceedings and issuing Judicial Review claims
- Preparing Tribunal bundles and briefing counsel on hearing
- Navigating Immigration Rules and UKVI guidance
- Having awareness of and adhering to all the relevant policies and procedures of the Firm
- Adhering to the Firm policy in relation to confidentiality with specific reference to Data Protection Act
- Ensuring clients receive good customer service
- Maintains security and telecommunications system.
- Complying with clean desk policy.
- Liaising with the staff and Solicitors on the telephone and face-to-face
- Administration duties including, but not limited to, file opening, file closing, scheduling documents, scanning, photocopying, filing, sorting, distributing paperwork, assistance in preparation of court bundles, drafting basic letters/emails to clients and third parties.
- Responding to website and telephone enquiries
- Participate in any events organised by the firm.
- Participate in all performance review meetings.
- Responsibility for maintaining a record of own professional development.
- Attend any training course provided by the firm.
- Any other task that the firm may ask you to deal with such as attending court.
- Follow the SRA code of conduct and report immediately to the head of department if there is any issue

- Competent with Microsoft Office Suite
- Competent with Case Management Software such as LEAP

- To be flexible in supporting the provision and continuity of service in respect of colleagues being on Annual Leave, Sick Leave, etc, to ensure that the department is appropriately staffed at all times.
- To actively participate in annual appraisal and achieve any agreed personal and/or organisational objectives.
- To actively look for new opportunities and areas for self-development using the Firm annual performance review system. Ensure skills are relevant and up to date.
- To identify and attend relevant training.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a Law firm or Immigration firm
- Knowledge of Immigration and Asylum law
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in using relevant software and systems for Immigration/Asylum tasks

Pay: 25,000.00-35,000.00 per year
