Auction House - Finance & Accounting Administrator
We have an exciting opportunity for someone enthusiastic, driven, and passionate about the world of accountancy and auctions to join our expanding customer service administration team. This is a full-time position and based in-house within our auction rooms in either Bristol or Bath
Auctioneum of Bath & Bristol is seeking a hardworking proactive Finance & Accounting Administrator to join our administration team. This role involves managing client-related financial operations, business financial operations, supporting buyers and vendors accounts and ensuring smooth post-sale processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Finance & Administrative Tasks:
Manage purchase invoices, sales invoices and the reconciliation to Xero.
The production of management accounts, all reports and data entry through to all departments.
Create, credit, or re-issue invoices both on Xero and internal admin system.
Handle general finance enquiries from buyers, vendors, and department teams.
Support in Anti Money Laundering HMRC regulations
Resolve general queries raised by the Accountants & Financial Controller
Provide holiday cover for other administrators in the department as and when required.
Buyer Accounts:
Identify and post incoming bank transfers, sagepay and toolbox payments.
Reconcile and balance debit & credit card payments taken from payment terminals
Handle cash or cheque banking along with the maintenance of all payment logs for reconciliation
Chase outstanding invoices and charges pre and post auction, coordinating all debt control and further action with the Financial Controller and accountants as needed
Prepare and process post auction sale transactions payments to vendors.

Skills & Competencies:
Previous administration experienced within a financial or accounting department.
Strong customer service with a positive attitude
AAT qualification an advantage but not essential.
Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of consistent accuracy.
Excel an advantage but not essential. Training can be given.
Strong time management with the ability to prioritise workload.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both internal and externally.
Flexibility and willingness to help with other roles in the business as and when required
