Accounts Senior / Semi Senior
to join their team in
Oxford
. This role is perfect for a candidate with strong experience in accounts preparation and personal tax, excellent technical knowledge, and a proactive client service approach. Working with minimal supervision, the successful applicant will play a key role in delivering high-quality client services, supporting junior colleagues, and contributing to the continued development of the firm.
Responsibilities
Prepare accounts and personal tax returns from client-provided information, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to HMRC.
Advise clients on tax liabilities and payment deadlines.
Finalise financial paperwork for review and dispatch.
Liaise proactively with clients to obtain all necessary information, ensuring effective questioning and attention to detail.
Work closely with managers to build knowledge of client businesses and become their go-to contact for day-to-day queries.
Assist partners and managers in delivering tax planning and advisory services for both individuals and businesses.
Support wider projects such as business planning, strategic financial advice, and tax matters.
Identify potential tax and business planning opportunities and bring them to the attention of partners or clients.
Prepare supporting reports, calculations, and documentation as needed.
Collaborate with other advisers and professionals as required.
Monitor and maintain the quality and quantity of your work in line with agreed budgets and deadlines.
Accurately record chargeable time and work to maximise recovery.
Provide support and coaching to trainees during their on-the-job learning.
Attend relevant training courses to maintain and expand your technical knowledge.
Use internal and external support networks (e.g. CCH help desk, software vendors) to resolve complex queries.
Undertake bookkeeping, ledger maintenance, supplier management, and management accounts tasks when required.
Assist clients with queries related to accounting software and bookkeeping systems.
Take part in client-facing seminars and events, including setup and attendance.
Contribute to the promotion and development of the firm in collaboration with the marketing team.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience:
ACA or ACCA qualified (or part-qualified at Semi Senior level).
Proven ability to accurately and efficiently complete full accounts files and personal tax returns.
Strong active listening, communication, and problem-solving skills.
High level of computer literacy and confidence with accounting systems.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Essential Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of accounts preparation principles and processes.
Proficiency in accounting software including:
CCH
Xero
Sage Line 50
Farmplan
and other relevant packages, including understanding of their uses and benefits.
Additional Information
Job Type:
Permanent, full-time
Working Hours:
37.5 hours per week with flexible start/finish times (typically 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
Hybrid working:
60% office-based
Study support:
Available for qualifications including ATT, AAT, ACA, ACCA, and CTA
Location:
You must live within commuting distance of Oxford
Note:
Occasional out-of-hours work may be required for client deadlines or events
