How you'll make a difference:
As an Audit Officer you will undertake professional internal audit assignments and contribute to a high-quality audit service across council services. You will meet with clients and identify ways to improve service delivery through robust risk management and internal control.

What you will be doing:
Daily you will be assisting in the delivery of a risk based internal audit plan for the council and commercial clients.
With support and training you will develop your skills to become a high-quality auditor, learning to undertake an audit from end to end, including writing reports and meeting with audit clients.
Using your eye for detail, you will identify and resolve queries and support the team in providing advice and support to a variety of different services across the council.
You will be responsible for supporting the audit management team in the analysis of data to support countering fraud and ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
What we need from you:
We require you to hold at least 5 GCSE passes at grade C or higher, or equivalent, including maths and english and a minimum of 2 A level passes or equivalent. Relevant subjects may include Maths, English, Humanities or Physics.
It is desirable that you have knowledge and understanding of auditing approaches and standards, through work experience or training.
You will be able to identify problems, presenting findings by writing clear, accurate and concise documents and have excellent communication skills and a good level of IT literacy.
It is essential that you can promote a positive image of the post and the council and work independently to deliver outcomes.
Critical to this role is your ability to embrace challenges and demonstrate a strong drive to deliver high-quality audit work within performance deadlines and deliver outcomes.
What you need to know:
This is a limited term contract for a period of 18 months.
This role is 30 hours per week, the salary will be pro rata.
You will be required to travel throughout the authority area so a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle will be required.
This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our offices in Yate and working from home, in addition to work throughout the authority.
