Sopher + Co is looking for an

Audit Senior

to join our growing Audit and Accounts team based in the

Borehamwood

office. As part of the role, you will lead on-site audit teams, supervise junior staff and work closely with managers, directors and partners to ensure audits are completed efficiently, to a high standard and in accordance with firm procedures. It offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your technical audit expertise while supporting a diverse client portfolio.





Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Lead audits from planning through to completion for a varied portfolio, including limited companies, groups, charities and other entities


Prepare audit planning documents, including designing tests for key audit risks


Manage fieldwork, review work of junior team members and ensure compliance with UK Auditing Standards (ISA(UK)s)


Liaise directly with clients, developing strong working relationships and resolving queries promptly


Prepare draft financial statements in accordance with FRS 102


Prepare draft corporation tax computations and liaise with the Tax Department where required


Ensure audit files are completed to a high standard, including completion memos, clearing review points and final analytical reviews


Supervise, coach and train junior team members, supporting their development


Prepare appropriate audit reports


Ensure timesheets are completed accurately and submitted on time


Maintain client files and documentation in line with Sopher + Co standards


Keep abreast of developments in audit, accounting, taxation and relevant software


Maintain client confidentiality at all times in accordance with firm policies

About You





We'll need you to have excellent time management, strong organisational skills and a proactive, self-motivated approach. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with great attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.



You will also have:


Audit experience within a UK accountancy practice


ACA/ACCA qualified


Strong technical knowledge and analytical ability


Proficiency with accounting and audit software; experience with CaseWare and Mercia is an advantage


Advanced Excel skills and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office


Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines


A proactive and professional approach, with the confidence to build strong client relationships


Flexibility, adaptability and a willingness to support team development
