We are looking to recruit an Audit Senior to build on continuing growth in the Financial Services (FS) sector. We've grown our specialist Financial Services team rapidly in recent years, not only to fulfil our clients' year-end audit and compliance obligations, but increasingly to satisfy demand from businesses wanting a complete accounting service.



Main Duties and Responsibilities



Working from our flagship Cape Town office, the role will entail running audits for a variety of UK clients across the Financial Services sector. Clients you will be working with will include investment managers, sub-advisors, wealth managers, financial advisory, currency solutions providers and fintech businesses.



As an Audit Senior, you will have had experience of leading audits from the planning stage right through to the completion stage, including supervision of staff within your audit team. You will be familiar with and have an awareness of the laws and regulations that apply to accounting and audit and are required to ensure compliance. You will be qualified CA(SA) or ACCA or in the final stages of sitting your board exams. This role will be largely remote client facing, where you will need to show willingness to work as part of a team and proactivity in communication to be able to meet deadlines. You will be required, where necessary, to work around clients' working hours as necessary.



The Role



Responsibilities are generalised and are no way exhaustive:



Carry out audits using a bespoke risk-based audit approach

Coordinate with the client, the manager and colleagues on the audit

Plan, perform and oversee the audit process in line with agreed timetables

Liaise with clients and complete audit testing

Allocate responsibilities and delegate work to more junior members of the team

Review team members' work for accuracy and compliance

Perform effective risk and control assessments

Liaise with the manager to ensure work is reviewed and any queries addressed

Present audit findings and find ways to increase compliance and efficiency

Train, coach and encourage junior members of the team

Familiar with and have an awareness of the laws and regulations that apply to accounting and audit and are required to ensure compliance

Excellent integrity and ethical standards



Work Based Competencies



CA(SA) or ACCA qualified or registered or eligible to register as a CA(SA)

BSc/BA/B.Com in Accounting, Finance or similar

Completed Articles and Board Exams (SAICA)

Strong mathematical and analytical skills

Proficient in using the Microsoft suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook

Experience of an electronic audit programme

Experience of CaseWare Accounts and Xero would be an advantage

In-depth understanding of auditing standards and control practices

Updated knowledge of applicable laws and regulations

Open to people relocating within South Africa

Office presence is required
