Purpose of Role
We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Authorised Person (AP) to join our Defence Sector, supporting the maintenance and safe operation of mechanical systems across a number of barracks within the Defence Estate.
In this role, you will act as the technical authority for boilers, pressure systems, and associated mechanical plant, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.
Responsibilities
Act as the Authorised Person (Mechanical) for boilers and pressure systems within designated sites.
Ensure safe systems of work are implemented and maintained in line with JSP 375 and other Defence safety standards.
Manage and authorise permits to work, isolations, and re-energisation of systems.
Carry out inspections, testing, and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment.
Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance teams and contractors.
Maintain accurate records of all work undertaken and ensure compliance documentation is up to date.
Liaise with Defence representatives, stakeholders, and Vinci Facilities management to ensure operational continuity.
Support improvement initiatives, system upgrades, and project works as required.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. HNC/HND or equivalent) in a relevant mechanical discipline.
Previous experience as an Authorised Person (Mechanical), ideally within a Defence, MOD, or similarly regulated environment.
In-depth knowledge of boilers, pressure systems, and steam installations.
Familiarity with JSP 375 Volume 2 and relevant statutory legislation.
Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
