A specialist school is looking for an Autism and Communication Support Worker to join their committed team. This is a classroom-based role supporting children with autism and significant communication needs. An immediate start is available, and the position has the potential to become permanent.
The Role
Working with pupils who have autism and other complex needs, you will play a vital role in helping them access learning and develop key communication and life skills. The role involves using a range of alternative communication strategies including AAC, PECS, and Makaton, and supporting behaviour positively to help pupils feel safe and understood.

Supporting children or young people with autism and communication challenges

The School
This is a highly inclusive specialist setting where staff work closely with therapists, families, and external professionals to meet each child's individual needs. The environment is structured, nurturing, and focused on small but meaningful progress.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm. Open to full-time and part-time applicants.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
