Role Description - Autism Support Worker



Gray Healthcare are recruiting an Autism Support Worker within the Worcester area of Worcestershire to support a male in his 20s who has a diagnosis of Autism, Learning Disabilities, Epilepsy and Levels of Anxiety

The male we support lives independently in his own home receiving 2:2:1 support 24 hours a day.

He has a good sense of humour. His interests include interacting with his staff team by doing activities with them or watching television. His favourite programs are Scooby Doo cartoons and nature documentaries like Planet Earth.

He is supported by a mixed team of male and female on mixed shifts of days and waking nights

for this role as the individual we support will have a mobility vehicle to access the community.

Support Worker Required Skills and Experience



Full UK Driving License -

Essential

. Social care experience, ideally within Autism and Learning Disabilities and with some experience of supporting individuals with mental health needs such as anxiety. Experience providing encouragement to a person with complex health needs. Experience supporting individuals with behaviours which may be considered challenging. Experience implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments. You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have been employed in the UK for at least 6 months.

This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references

Hours



24-hour Contract 2 x 12 Waking Nights shifts per week (Alternative weekends)

Induction and Training



We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training. (Company induction, systems, and Medication.) Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, this is a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint dominate approaches. You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. Training continues throughout your time with Gray Healthcare, and we encourage you to develop and grow your career with us.
