JOB TITLE: Azure Infrastructure Engineer

SALARY: \xc2\xa345,054 - \xc2\xa350,060

LOCATION(S): Dundee or Edinburgh

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites

About this opportunity

In your role as Azure Engineer, within the infrastructure team, you will lead in the management, deployment and maintenance of Microsoft based server and cloud solutions for the group. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of new technology as well as providing 3rd line support for existing systems and related technology. Working within the Infrastructure team you will need to keep up-to-date with the latest in cloud based technology and provide design guidance to ensure a process of continual improvement.

In both aspects, your workload will be based on support tickets raised in our IT Service Desk system and involving you supporting staff over the phone, via email and face-to-face to resolve their hardware and software related issues.

Key Accountabilities:

Specialist in Azure architecture, products and services.

Responsible for the design and delivery of new Azure infrastructure, on premise and hybrid solutions.

Management of the Hybrid cloud infrastructure including servers, storage, security and virtualization

Delivery of proactive continual improvement through technical assessment including business risk, resilience, capacity and availability of services hosted within the environment.

Providing solid documentation of systems and architecture, design, configuration and testing evidence.

Providing solution designs, costings and basic project management for the duration of any implementation

Providing technical leadership and guidance to peers within your areas of expertise.

Management of desktop builds/images where integration with server infrastructure is required.

Ownership of technical Backup, DR (Disaster Recovery) and Business Continuity for all server-based solutions.

Providing support for complex queries relating to infrastructure issues

Troubleshooting and issue ownership for complex issues within your areas of expertise.

Liaising with 1st line and 3rd party suppliers to ensure a speedy and positive resolution for customers

Providing regular updates on any assigned issues and providing escalation where service levels are at risk.

Prioritisation of tasks, requests and incidents in accordance with agreed service levels

Producing and presenting recommendations relating to the resolution of calls and improvement of the IT service

Ensuring infrastructure components are correctly registered and tracked with the asset and configuration management database.

Control of key system configuration parameters

Keeping application software levels and patches up to date

Maintenance of test and development environments (non Devops)

What you\'ll need:

Key skills:

Experienced in the design and implementation of MS Azure based services including ADFS, Virtualisation, SaaS and PaaS

Experience of the implementation and management of resilient services including load balancing, availability sets, geo-redundancy, Azure system updates

Experience of Azure DR and backup solutions

Experience of Office365 interoperability preferably to an SME level.

Solid experience of managing on-premise and hybrid server solutions

Experience of deploying and/or integrating PC based technologies within Windows (e.g. Direct Access, Bitlocker)

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Log Analytics experience.

Ability to interpret and analyse data.

Ability to multitask and work to meet deadlines under pressure, maintaining attention to detail.

Exceptionally proactive nature, with the ability to innovate and challenge in support of the business model we are operating.

And any experience of these would be really useful:

Ideally will have ITIL Foundation Level or above

Experience in a Financial Services business is highly desirable.

Microsoft infrastructure related qualification(s)
