Job Purpose

Working as part of a strong team to produce high quality baked goods in a bakery/cafe, run as a training facility helping adults with learning disabilities to move on and access new opportunities in training, education, employment and leisure.

Major Tasks / Activities

? To assist the team and Apprentice Bakers in the preparation and sale of high quality baking in conjunction with the Bakery Manager

? To assist the team in preparation and sale of bakery goods and snacks for the coffee shop and wholesale market

? To develop and review bakery produce in conjunction with the Bakery Manager

? Operate stock control systems and maintain appropriate administrative records in conjunction with the General Manager and Bakery Manager

? To follow management and food preparation procedures and policies which reflect most recent statutory legislations and guidelines

? To ensure that the Apprentice Bakers on duty meet the commercial operations of the Bread Maker and are supported to do so

? To liaise with the other staff responsible for educations, training, employment and personal development to ensure that Apprentice Bakers are supported appropriately and receive appropriate training for the demands of a commercial enterprise

? To ensure all Health and Safety and hygiene requirements are met

? To promote Apprentice Baker involvement in all aspects of planning and operational developments through planning exercises, group work and other initiatives

? To carry out any other duty reasonable within the broad remit of this post

Terms and Conditions

? Employment will be for 40 hours per week. These hours will be worked between Monday and every second Saturday on operational days.

? There are 20 days annual leave, a proportion of these being set dates, and 8 public holidays.

? Statuary a sick pay policy after 3 waiting days but less than 28 days.

? Employee Pension Scheme is available to all qualifying staff.

? There is a probation period of three months, when the appointment may be terminated by not less than one week's notice. After confirmation in post, not less than four weeks' notice must be given

? Satisfactory police / disclosure check

? Two satisfactory references
