Overview:

Archipelago is seeking a skilled Baker for the Bakery at 39 Dundas Street.

Please DO NOT Apply unless you have relevant baking experience. Only apply if you have baking experience and a knowledge of bread and previous experience of working in a commercial bakery environment -no home bakers please.

You will have experience and knowledge of making sourdough and yeasted loaves and be able to hit the ground running. You will be responsible for preparing the sourdough and shaping it plus all the yeasted loaves and then baking it off as well. Must be consistent in quality and ensure the standards are superb every day. You must be reliable and have excellent time-keeping skills. You must be punctual.

You must have knowledge of pastries and scones and be skilled to bake fresh each morning

Working hours/days are negotiable (to be discussed in person) but you must be able to work some early morning shifts (start time 4.30am). day. You must be organised, able to multi-task, competent at setting up a cake counter in the morning by yourself and make it look aesthetically pleasing for customers, you need to be able to read and follow recipes competently and correctly and with success and also use your initiative to adjust when necessary i.e if dough needs more water etc,. You must also be extremely clean and tidy, efficient, reliable, responsible, have excellent attention to detail and have a passion for baking. Duties:
- Prepare and bake a wide range of baked goods, including sourdough and yeasted bread, sweet pastries, scones and savoury pastry
- Follow recipes and measurements accurately to ensure consistent results
- Operate baking equipment such as mixers and ovens
- Monitor baking process to ensure proper cooking times and temperatures
- Decorate and present baked goods in an appealing manner
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of baking supplies
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations

Requirements:
- Previous experience in food production or culinary field preferred
- Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment
- Ability to follow recipes and measurements accurately
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Excellent time management skills
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From 13.00 per hour
