Job Description

We are looking for experienced Baker to join our existing team in our award winning Tring cafe, where we offer an all day brunch menu, expertly sourced coffee, amazing cakes and a full range of takeaway options.

Salary - 12.50 per hour + Tips

As a Baker at Black Goo Cafe, you'll be responsible for preparing a range of baked goods, from cakes to sweet treats and seasonal specialties. You'll maintain our high standards for taste, quality, and presentation while keeping an eye on detail and consistency.

Key Responsibilities:

Baking & Preparation

Prepare, bake, and finish a variety of baked goods, cakes, loafs, cookies, and desserts, ensuring consistency in taste, texture, and appearance. Follow established recipes and techniques while maintaining flexibility for seasonal and menu adjustments.

Inventory & Stock Management

Monitor ingredients and supplies, ensuring freshness and quality by ordering, rotating, and storing items properly.

Cleanliness & Safety

Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines, ensuring the kitchen and baking area meet all health regulations. Maintain a clean, organized workstation, practicing regular cleaning schedules and food safety protocols. Properly store and label all ingredients and finished products, preventing cross-contamination and ensuring optimal freshness.

Quality Control & Presentation

Consistently check the quality of each baked item, ensuring it meets Black Goo Cafe's standards for flavour, texture, and presentation.

Collaboration & Communication

Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to align baking with daily needs and customer demand. Collaborate on seasonal or themed items, bringing fresh ideas to keep the bakery offerings exciting. Respond to feedback and adjust products to meet customer preferences while maintaining cafe standards.
