Salary: 32k base salary with on target earnings of up to 50k based on performance

What We're Looking For:

At Cissy Green's, we take pride in our legendary hand-crafted pies and traditional baked goods that have delighted generations of customers. As our manager, your role would be to uphold this legacy, overseeing the development and manufacture of consistently high-quality pies and sweet treats, exceptional service for our retail and wholesale customers, and a positive and safe work environment.

You will manage and oversee the daily operations and growth of both Cissy Greens retail and wholesale bakery, leading and managing the team leaders for wholesale and for the shop. The role involves making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, from leading, developing and supporting a productive team, improving our customer experience and growing our customer base (retail and wholesale), to overseeing quality assurance and compliance with food safety standards. We're looking for a manager who is keen to see Cissy Green's flourish in our local community of Haslingden and help us expand beyond via wholesale, events, online sales, and/or an additional retail outlet.

What You'll Be Doing:

Business Development

Ensure the profitable operation of the business. Work to grow the business, oversee marketing campaigns, improve customer experience, and identify and sign up new wholesale customers.

Operational Management

Oversee day-to-day operations of the retail bakery, wholesale unit, and wholesale deliveries, through the management of a team leader in each business. Monitor and improve operational efficiencies to meet demand and maintain productivity; ensuring standard operating procedures are document and updated as necessary. Oversee quality and safety control processes to ensure products consistently meet our high-quality standards of safety, appearance and taste.

Leadership and Management

Direct line-management responsibility for 2 Team Leaders, supporting them to take on management responsibility of our other 8 team members, including bakers, retail staff, and cleaners. Recruit, train, supervise, and assign mentors across both the retail and wholesale units. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to staff to support their professional development. Role model a positive and collaborative approach, ensuring the facilitation of a friendly and supportive work environment and culture.

Customer Service and Relationship Management

Ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained. Manage relationships with wholesale clients, proactively ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any concerns or complaints. Respond in a timely manner to online customer enquiries via our Cissy Green's website and social media accounts. Listen to customer feedback and identify opportunities to improve our products and service delivery.

Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, and Quality Control:

Ensure all bakery operations comply with UK health and safety, food hygiene and HACCP standards including those designed to control allergen risk. Maintain up-to-date records of compliance for all health and safety practices, including HACCP documentation, staff training records, and standard operating procedures. Conduct, update, and amend risk assessments to ensure continuous compliance with health and safety standards. Complete regular inspections and audits to ensure and clean and safe working environment. Provide staff training in food hygiene and safety procedures appropriate to their roles, ensuring awareness and competence of current food safety practices.

What You'll Bring:

Qualifications and Experience:

Proven experience in operational management in food manufacturing, catering or hospitality business. Leadership experience with a track record of managing and motivating teams. Knowledge, experience and competence in health and safety, food hygiene, and HACCP standards, with evidence of appropriate qualifications to support this (we can support you to refresh or update gaps in training if needed). Demonstrate awareness and experience of financial management, budgeting, cost control, profit management. Driving license.

Skills:

Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency in using software (EPOS and ERP) for inventory, financial management, and scheduling (training provided). Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask and work under pressure across multiple sites. Attention to detail and organisational skills.

Where you'll be:

Working Conditions:

You will be based at the retail shop, but required to visit the wholesale bakery, and go to see our wholesale customers as appropriate. Core hours would be 8am-4pm, but some early mornings, weekends, and public holidays will need to be worked to ensure you meet the whole team and can see the entire operation (the wholesale bakery operates 6 days a week from 1am to 8am)
