Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and professional Balochi Language Interpreters to facilitate accurate and impartial communication between English-speaking service providers (e.g., NHS, Police, Local Councils, Legal firms) and individuals who speak Balochi. The successful candidate must possess native-level fluency in Balochi (all major dialects/registers) and expert fluency in English, alongside a profound understanding of Balochi culture and community norms. This role is crucial in ensuring equitable access to vital public services across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Impartial Interpretation:
Provide accurate, objective, and culturally sensitive interpretation between Balochi and English, ensuring full and correct transmission of all verbal communication.Modality Management:
Conduct interpretations across various settings, including face-to-face (on-site), telephone interpreting (TI), and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI).Adherence to Protocol:
Maintain strict professional boundaries, impartiality, and client confidentiality in line with the Code of Professional Conduct for Public Service Interpreters.Specialist Contexts:
Quickly adapt to complex and sensitive subject matter, including legal terminology, medical diagnoses, social services procedures, and technical jargon.Preparation and Research:
Proactively research technical, legal, or medical terminology specific to upcoming assignments to ensure the highest level of accuracy.Cultural Bridging:
Help bridge cultural gaps and sensitivities to ensure the intent and context of the conversation are fully understood by all parties, without adding or omitting information.Note-Taking:
Utilize effective consecutive interpretation techniques, including advanced memory retention and note-taking skills, particularly in longer sessions.Job Types: Part-time, Freelance
Pay: 15.00-20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 per week
