Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and committed Band 3 Health Care Assistants to join our teams on wards and departments at both Queens Hospital and King Georges Hospital, including our Emergency, Surgical, Geriatrics and Medicine Departments.



We are looking for enthusiastic and driven individuals to work with us at BHRUT. The role is critical in supporting the initial assessment and ongoing care of patients attending ED and through to the general and specialist ward areas. The role requires excellent communication skills and experience working in an acute healthcare setting.



You will be required to be fully flexible to do shift work that includes day shifts, night shifts, weekends and bank holidays:



Day shifts (0730 am until 20:00 ) Night shifts (19:30 until 08:00 am) These will be Monday to Sunday (including Bank Holidays).

The postholder will contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care by undertaking delegated clinical duties, supporting patients, and working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.



Deliver safe, high-quality clinical and personal care by undertaking delegated tasks in line with training, competency, and trust policies.

Accurately monitor, record, and report patient observations, promptly escalating any concerns to the registered nurse or appropriate team member.

Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, families, and colleagues to support patient-centred care and ensure clear information sharing.

Support a safe, clean, and well-organized clinical environment by adhering to infection control measures and assisting with stock management and equipment checks.

Actively participate in ongoing learning and development, attending training sessions, supervision, and competency assessments to maintain and enhance practice.



Under the leadership of our Chair Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, we provide care for the residents of three of the most diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.



Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.



As we recover from Covid-19, we're proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change .



We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.



We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
