Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to: Performing highly skilled physiotherapeutic assessment of patients referred by Consultants, General Practitioners and other Healthcare Professionals and self-referrals with diverse presentations and complex and acute/chronic physical conditions and sports injuries. To use clinical reasoning skills to provide an accurate clinical diagnosis. Formulating, developing and delivering a specialised individualised treatment programme based upon evidence-based practice, manual assessment and appropriate clinical reasoning. Communicating effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for assessment and treatment, good understanding of their conditions and maximise their rehabilitation potential.
Developing and maintaining of your own personal, Service and Professional Standards at the highest attainable levels through continuing professional development activities and maintenance of a portfolio. The provision of complex clinical reports to supply clinical prognosis and onward referrals to other health professionals. Take part in a variety of CPD activities and regular in-service training sessions. Please refer to the attached and Person Specification for the full list of duties.
Selection process This is a Fixed-term Appointment as a Band 6 Physiotherapist role. Your responsibilities will be as described in this job advert. The reason why you are appointed for a fixed period is due maternity leave cover. This post will therefore begin on your appointment and will end on 01/11/2026.
You should be aware that when your Fixed-term Appointment at MOD comes to an end, arrangements will be made in line with the FTA policy. If you are a permanent MoD civil servant and are found successful for an advertised Fixed-term Appointment (FTA) you should move into the post under a Temporary Transfer (for up to a maximum of 3 years). At the end of the posting, you will return to your previous MoD Business area. If this posting is at a higher grade, your promotion will be temporary, and you will return to your substantive grade at the end of the Temporary Transfer.
If a Temporary Transfer cannot be agreed between all parties then a transfer on an FTA contract is possible, read the FTA and Change of Work Location in the UK policy for further information. If you are transferring to MoD from another government department (OGD) you should join the MoD on an inward loan. At the end of the loan, you will return to your home (OGD) department.
