Band 7 - Maternity Cover
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 clinician to provide maternity cover within our service. The successful candidate will have proven experience in team management and demonstrate leadership skills to support and develop staff effectively.
In addition, candidates must have prior specialty experience at
Band 6 level
in at least
two of the following areas

Renal
Haematology/Oncology
Amputees
This role requires a dynamic and adaptable individual with strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
This role involves both
team leadership
and the
provision of specialist physiotherapy
to patients with complex needs arising from conditions such as
Diabetes, Kidney Failure, and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
.
The successful candidate will:
Manage and support a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating a
strong leadership approach
and effective communication skills.
Provide expert physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patients with complex presentations related to long-term conditions.
Offer
teaching and mentorship
to junior and unqualified staff working within the rotational system.
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of
discharge pathways
and actively promote
efficient patient flow
within a high-pressure clinical environment.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across specialties to ensure high standards of patient care and service delivery.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for renal and amputee patients, considering medical, functional, psychological, and social factors.
Develop and deliver individualised treatment plans to address mobility, strength, endurance, respiratory function, balance, and functional independence.
Provide rehabilitation for patients experiencing deconditioning due to renal disease, dialysis treatment, prolonged hospital admission, or surgery.
Support amputee patients through pre-operative conditioning, early post-operative management, stump shaping and care, gait re-education, wheelchair skills, and long-term functional rehabilitation.
Monitor and respond to clinical changes, recognising early signs of deterioration and adapting treatment accordingly.
Implement evidence-based interventions, including exercise therapy, mobility training, functional retraining, and patient education.
Support self-management strategies, including activity pacing, fatigue management, vascular risk factor modification, and home exercise programmes.
Contribute to discharge planning, ensuring timely, safe, and co-ordinated transitions to community services or specialist rehabilitation units.
