We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and forward thinking community team, acting as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist supporting training needs and holding a clinical caseload.
We have a number of SLTS who are developing their dysphagia skills and provide placements for many students and so need a dedicated member of the team to oversee, supervise and support their ongoing training needs in the area of Dysphagia.

Main duties of the job
To contribute to the identification of training needs of team members, other professionals and deliver training in the highly specialist area.
To take delegated responsibility for ensuring high quality speech and language therapy post registration paediatric dysphagia training and competence, across the city, in conjunction with the Advanced Specialists and Professional Lead.
To be the lead clinician for the education of clinical SLT staff and students in the area of Dysphagia.
To provide Speech and Language Therapy at a highly specialist level, functioning in partnership with other agencies and disciplines to support in the holistic assessment, diagnosis and intervention for children and young people known to the service.

  • Keep abreast of the national training agenda including AHP workforce, Apprenticeship programmes and RCSLT developments to inform training plans and development.
  • Develop close working links with Professional Education and development, Health Education England (HEE) Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and RCSLT
  • Carrying out specialist assessments. Developing and implementing a range of programmes of care and treatment to meet the needs of the clients, families and their environments in accordance with agreed pathways and packages of care in specialist area
  • Negotiating with multi-disciplinary team colleagues and carers with reference to case management of complex cases including instigating appropriate referrals as appropriate
  • As requested, to use specialist knowledge together with analysis of relevant data in the clinical area in order to contribute in matters of service delivery in the specialist clinical area and provide evidence for clinical outcomes
