Job Description

St Teresas Hospice, Darlington is seeking experienced Healthcare Assistants to join our clinical bank team, working with patients in their own homes and in our Inpatient Unit. Driving is essential for this role.
Location: St Teresas Hospice, Woodlands Road
Hours: Bank hours ad hoc
St Teresas Hospice Band 3: 12.33 per hour
An induction and ongoing training will be provided.

Main duties of the job
We are a forward thinking, inclusive registered Charity with Inpatient, Outpatient and Hospice at Home services, providing care and support to palliative patients and their families in their own homes and at St Teresas Hospice.
To work as a member of the nursing and multi-disciplinary team delivering care and giving support to patients with palliative care needs and their families, within patients own homes and in the Hospice. Working in close collaboration with the District Nurses, GPs, Marie Curie nurses, Macmillan nurses, the Foundation Trust & other hospice services ensuring patient choice at the end of life.
This is a casual/bank appointment with no guaranteed hours of work, and no obligation on the worker to accept work when offered.
Essential Skills / qualities include:

  • Hold an NVQ/QCF Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, or have an equivalent qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Be available to cover morning and evening shifts on Community Hospice and/or long day and night shifts on IPU, during the week and at weekends.
  • To work in Community Hospice you must be able to travel for work on a day-to-day basis using own transport, including carrying a passenger and equipment (business use insurance to be arranged by worker at their expense).
