To provide additional service to our Ladies & Gentlemen both prior to and during mealtimes whilst maintaining the dining rooms to the highest of standards, setting up for service and welcoming our Ladies & Gentlemen into our dining rooms.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Job



Role-specific Duties:



The Host/Hostess responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

To Serve meals and beverages as required

To lay dining rooms to Silver Service standard promptly prior to and following meals

Ensure that condiments have been replenished daily and offered to all Ladies & Gentlemen dining

Take menu choices from Ladies & Gentlemen ensuring that each is afforded choice

To assist Ladies & Gentlemen during meal service as required

Immediately following meals, you may be required to assist Ladies & Gentlemen to move into the lounge areas and ensure that they are comfortable.

To understand and keep knowledge up to date to allow the preparation of drinks which may be modified and specific to our Ladies & Gentlemen's dietary requirements (considering allergies, textures and consistencies)

Report symptoms of poor nutrition and dehydration to management

Understand how to get up to date information on residents that need to gain or lose weight, and understand how you can support this

Maintain high standards of hygiene and appearance adhering to company policies and procedures, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point), COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), Health & Safety and Welfare policies & procedures.

Maintain accurate, in the moment records

Deliver fresh water and glassware to individual rooms

Promptly serve meals to residents' rooms when required to do so. Trays must be laid up to include serviettes, condiments and cutlery. All food should be served with a plate cover.

Ensure that all beverages (hot or cold) are served in appropriate vessels (fruit juices from cartons to jugs)

Be prepared to undertake any aspect of non-care duties as requested, for example supporting with resident activities and responding to resident needs when it comes to your attention.

Monitor fridges, equipment and stock in the satellite kitchens, and monitor and promote stock rotation.

Maintain accurate records related to 'Hot Holding' and fridge temperature in accordance with regulations and legal requirements.

You are required to be respectful and courteous when dealing with staff, relatives, and other public and professional people internal and external to Glenburnie Lodge Care Community

Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the service

Work in cooperation with members of the multidisciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for people in the service

Assist in the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by ensuring adherence to Glenburnie Lodge Health & Safety and Welfare policies and procedures including the reporting of accidents.

You have a duty of care to whistle blow if you witness bad practice or harm to a resident or a colleague within the care home. Where possible and appropriate in the first instance, discuss your concern with your Line Manager or Home Director.

Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by management

Obtain the relevant qualification commensurate with the role

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 12.61 per hour
