We now have an exciting opportunity for a BANK Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team. The prison houses around 1500 men with a variety of health needs and within this role, you'll be an integral part of our safe and secure medicines management service.
HMP Garth, a Category B prison in Lancashire.
The Mental Health Nurses will be based within the healthcare department but will also be working on the prison wings.
Hours:

• Monday - Friday
• 8am - 4pm

Hourly Bank Rate:

• Weekday - 23.00
• Weekends - 24.79
• Bank Holidays - 29.75

What you'll be doing
As a Bank Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

• Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
• Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic

experiences and may be distressed * Assess patient's health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge

• You will work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a case load of patients.
• You will monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects liaising with prescribers as required.
• Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care

Requirements:

• NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development
• Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
• Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
