Your Role as a Bank Night Shift Support Worker (Waking Nights)
As a
Waking Nights Support Worker
, you'll be part of a dedicated team ensuring the safety and emotional wellbeing of young people during the night. Each shift offers the chance to provide consistent, therapeutic care and to help young people feel supported and secure in their home environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing a consistent, caring, and reassuring presence overnight.
Monitoring and responding to the needs of young people throughout the night.
Supporting bedtime routines and helping young people settle safely.
Promoting a calm, nurturing, and safe environment.
Completing domestic and administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the home.
Following care plans, safeguarding policies, and behaviour support strategies.
Maintaining accurate records, including incident logs and shift handovers.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Experience supporting
children or young people
(residential or similar care setting preferred).
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Patience, empathy, resilience, and a calm, professional approach.
Understanding of
safeguarding
and
child protection
.
Flexibility to work waking night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
A collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
Desirable:
Level 3 Diploma / NVQ in Residential Childcare, Health and Social Care, or Children and Young People's Workforce.
First Aid training.
Experience supporting children with
complex or challenging behaviours
.
Full UK driving licence.
